Today is the day I said goodbye to my 1965 Volkswagen Beetle. I've been through a lot with this car. A couple of breakdowns with duct tape repairs and a full body off restoration. In the end, it was a new vehicle that caught my attention and also the opportunity to pay off my credit cards. "Dude" you will be sadly missed.

San Rafael Swell and Eardley Canyon

Over the weekend I took a trip with my brothers to the San Rafael Swell to do a tech hike and rappel in Eardley Canyon. The hike was beautiful but kicked everyones butt because you must first hike 1100 feet up before you descend. Definitely a one timer but it was fun. We also found the perfect camping spot with trees in the desert for shade. We also took a trip to Goblin Valley while we waited for Russell. We kicked the football around to give us a hiking direction. It's nice to get away even if it is for just a weekend

The Killers, Dustland Farytale

It's sad that one mistake when we are young can make us regret what we did for the rest of our lives.

Hiking in Pleasant Grove and Mapleton

I have found some time in the last couple of weeks to get some hiking and rappelling in. I figured I would take advantage of the summer as much as I can after the most depressing winter of all time. I've been up to battle creek twice to do some rappelling and it was great. I also made a cheesy video with REO Speedwagon music because the 80's always made the experience seam better than it was.

Nate and I also hiked up Mapleton Canyon. It has to be the best hike I've done this year. There was so much to see up there and it was so green. Anyway, enjoy.

Moving back to California

I know it's still a year away but I just thought I would promise myself that this will happen no matter what goes down. So there. It's written down. Help me hold my promise!

Last day for the Renaissance Faire

So I decided to take one more trip to the Renaissance Faire so Mandi could have a chance to go. We also brought Margot, Logan and Katrina. We all had a fun time watching the knights joust as well as me being part of the show. They put a helmet on my head with a cabbage on top and took turns trying to cut the cabbage in two with a sword while riding a horse. Pretty cool.

Out with the old, in with the new

Well, I have to say goodbye to my motorcycle and my Beetle to make way for my new ride. Well, it's not new but it will do for my transportation when we move out to California. It's a 1972 Ural Russian motorcycle complete with side car. I actually have no plans to restore it anytime soon. It will be my daily driver. I can make rounds to the grocery store and even carry projects to school with it because of the side car. The motorcycle itself has two bike style seats. I found it while attending a car show at thanks giving point. I was one of the first to see it and all I had were questions, questions questions. The guy lives in Payson and I went down after the swap meat to get a better look and to hear it start up. It sounds great but it needs a new carburator on the left side. I found that they run only $90 new. The great thing about this bike is that they didn't change the model much since the 1940's so it looks totally vintage.

Renaissance Faire

Last week Russell, Randa, Nate and I went to the Renaissance Faire in Ogden. We had a great time drinking Wizard's ale and watching the Knights joust. Here are some pictures.

Moon Pictures

The moon looked so beautiful the other night that I had to take some pictures through my telescope. Click photo to view larger size.
